artist statement

I am a multi-disciplinary artist and a trained printmaker so I use a lot of printmaking in my work. I'm drawn to textures and colors, and my works tend to hover between the figurative and the abstract way of representing a subject. An abstract image is very figurative in my point of view and vice versa. When I see a shape or texture that intrigues me, I notice another image inside of it and then I know I have something to start working with.

I work a lot with animals and other non-humans, such as plants, insects, and ecocriticism. I believe they have a place in the art world and the world in general and I'm less interested in the human world's internal issues. There are many more interesting and important things to take notice of and give our attention to than the human struggles with themselves. I hope to give viewers a perspective of the non-human world that dwells around us in our day-to-day lives and how entangled it is with us.
